Best enduro mountain bikes

Enduro and all-mountain bikes are the big-travel end of bikes you still pedal - roughly 150-170mm, built to charge steep, rough, committed descents and then climb back up for another. If your trails have real consequence, this is the category that turns them from frightening into fun.
Fair warning, because I give it to friends too: this is the most over-bought category in mountain biking. On mellow trails a bike like this feels like towing a trailer, and no paint job fixes that. But if your descents are steep, rocky, and sustained - or that's honestly where you're headed - the right big bike is the best money you'll spend. All-mountain (150mm-class) bikes here still pedal like all-day bikes; full enduro (160-170mm) bikes give up a little climb for a lot of composure. Ranked by spec-for-money within each budget.
