This site is free, has no sponsorships, and no brand pays to be ranked. Here's exactly how it makes money instead - and why that never touches the recommendations.

The material connection (the FTC-required part)

Some links on Find My MTB are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a commission. It costs you nothing extra - the price is the same either way. This is a "material connection" under FTC guidelines, and this page is our disclosure of it.

Which links

• Retailer links on bike recommendations may be affiliate links with shops that stock the bike.
• Gear links (helmets, pedals, tools) point to a real bike shop we rate, not a marketplace. If we're earning a commission on those, it's at no extra cost to you.
• Direct brand links ("See it at Trek", "View") always go to the brand's own site. Most bike brands don't run an affiliate program, so most of these links earn nothing. Where a brand does and has approved us, the same link is credited to us at no cost to you and carries the sponsored label below. The page you land on is the same either way.

Affiliate links carry a rel="sponsored" attribute in the page code - the technically-honest label search engines expect.

Why it can't touch the rankings

The AI engine that ranks bikes doesn't know which links pay and which don't - that information simply isn't in the data it scores on. Rankings come from fit (your answers vs. each bike's travel, category, and character), spec-for-the-money, and our editorial take on each brand. A bike with no affiliate program whatsoever can and does out-rank bikes that would earn us money. That's the whole point of the site.

Brand ratings and guide picks reflect the honest opinions of a lifelong rider. No brand has paid for placement, review, or ranking - and none ever will.
